Food Establishment

A Food Establishment license is required of any person or company that prepares or serves food that is intended for immediate consumption. Examples of establishments that must be licensed are:

  • Cafeterias
  • Daycare centers
  • Hotels
  • Restaurants
  • Snack bars
  • Any similar establishment

Code Requirements

Guidance relating to Food Establishments is contained in the Maplewood City Code, Chapter 14, Article VIMinnesota Statutes Section 145A and Section 157; and Minnesota Rules 4626. All license holders are required to be familiar with the provisions of this Chapter and with applicable Minnesota Statutes and federal regulations.

Apply for a License

Applications for a Food Establishment license have been transitioned to an online licensing system (Accela) and is available for access via the Citizen Access portal

Expiration/Renewal

License term runs March 1st through February 28th (29th during leap year), annually. Renewal must occur on or before date of expiration.
