Food Establishment

A Food Establishment license is required of any person or company that prepares or serves food that is intended for immediate consumption. Examples of establishments that must be licensed are:

  • Cafeterias
  • Daycare centers
  • Hotels
  • Restaurants
  • Snack bars
  • Any similar establishment

Code Requirements

Guidance relating to Food Establishments is contained in the Maplewood City Code, Chapter 14, Article VIMinnesota Statutes Section 145A and Section 157; and Minnesota Rules 4626. All license holders are required to be familiar with the provisions of this Chapter and with applicable Minnesota Statutes and federal regulations.

Apply for a License

Application for a Food Establishment license has been transitioned to an online licensing system (Accela) and is available for access via the Citizen Access portal. Paper applications are no longer accepted, unless applicants are unable to use the online system.

License term runs March 1st through February 28th (29th during leap year), annually. Renewal must occur on or before date of expiration.
