City contractor licenses must be applied for annually. In order to be licensed by the City of Maplewood, a contractor license application (PDF) must be completed and submitted with a certificate of insurance, listing the city as a certificate holder and a yearly fee paid.
Every contractor doing work in Maplewood must be licensed either by the state (BC, CR or RR) or by the city. This is to ensure the contractor carries adequate property damage insurance, general liability insurance, and worker's compensation.
Please note the contractors registered with the state (IR) are not allowed to pull permits.
City License Required
A state license is sufficient only for residential building contractors. All commercial building contractors doing work in Maplewood must be licensed by the City of Maplewood.
