Contractor Licenses

City License Required

A state license is sufficient for residential building contractors, state licensed plumbing contractors and state licensed electrical contractors. All commercial building contractors and mechanical contractors (both residential and commercial) doing work in Maplewood must be licensed by the City of Maplewood. This helps ensure the contractor carries adequate property damage insurance, general liability insurance and worker's compensation.

City Contractor License Application

City contractor licenses must be applied for annually. In order to be licensed by the City of Maplewood, a contractor license application must be completed via the online portal and submitted with a certificate of insurance listing the City of Maplewood as a certificate holder, copy of the state mechanical bond (mechanical contractors only) and a yearly fee paid.
