Absentee/Early Voting
Any Maplewood resident can vote prior to an election day at Maplewood City Hall during 46 days before election day. To vote in person by an envelope you must submit an absentee ballot application. Starting 19 days before election day you can also do an early voting by placing your voted ballot directly into the ballot counter. The results will not be tabulated until the end of the voting on Election Day.
The times and dates for voting prior to election day are below:
Presidential Nomination Primary-January 19 to March 4, 2024
State and Federal Primary-June 28 to August 12, 2024
State and Federal General-September 20 to November 4, 2024

In addition to returning your absentee ballot by mail, Maplewood residents can return their mailed ballots at City Hall during regular business hours from 8:00am to 4:30pm. The absentee ballot must be hand-delivered directly to an election official inside the building for verification, otherwise, it will not be accepted. The City of Maplewood does not have a ballot drop off box.
Ballots returned in person to City Hall must be hand delivered by 3:00pm on election day. The Ramsey County Elections Office located at 90 Plato Boulevard West, St. Paul 55164 accepts dropped off ballots till 8:00pm on election day.

Voters living temporarily or permanently overseas and those serving in the military (including their spouses and dependents) or attending a military academy, use a special process to vote absentee directly through the Ramsey County Elections Office.

You may designate an individual (agent) to pick up and return your absentee ballot. This is available only during the last 7 days before election.
To qualify for an agent pick up and delivery you have to:
- Be a patient in a hospital, residential treatment center or nursing home
- Resident of a group home
- Resident of a battered women's shelter
- Resident of an assisted living facility
- Voter with a disability
- Voter who would have difficulty getting to the polls because of incapacitating health reasons.
To qualify as an agent, an agent must:
- Have a pre-existing relationship with you
- Is at least 18 years old
- Is not a candidate in the election

Complete both and have your agent bring the completed form to City Hall to pick up your ballot. Your agent must pick up your ballot by 2pm on election day. Your voted ballot must be returned by your agent to City Hall by 3pm on election day or to Ramsey County Election's at 90 Plato Boulevard W, St. Paul MN by 8pm.
