Date: November 24, 2019
Time of release: Approximately 1145 hours

On 11/23/2019 at approximately 2323 hours, Maplewood Police Officers responded to the area of English St and Belmont Lane E on a pedestrian struck. On arrival, officers found a pedestrian lying in the middle of the road and the striking vehicle had fled the scene.

Through investigation, the pedestrian was identified as a 20-year-old male from Maplewood, who is in critical condition at Regions Hospital.

It is possible the driver was not aware they struck anyone. Maplewood Police Department and Investigations is seeking assistance from the public. We are looking for anyone who was driving in the area and may have witnessed what happened.

The striking vehicle could possibly have front end damage, but it may not be significant. By reviewing the video, we believe the vehicle may be similar to a mid-size SUV or van. Witnesses did see a tan, possibly a late 90s style Honda in the area who may have been following the suspect vehicle. The driver of this vehicle could have valuable information and we are seeking their assistance.

Please contact Ramsey County Dispatch Center at 651-777-8191 if you have any information about this case.
