Coin-Operated Amusement Device

A Coin-Operated Amusement Device license is required of any person or company that offers amusement devices, operated upon the insertion of a coin or token, to be used by the general public.  
For the purpose of this license, coin-operated amusement devices include so-called pinball machines, motion picture machines, amusement rides, table shuffleboard games, bowling games, billiard games, pool tables, video games or similar games of amusement for which a fee is charged to players for the playing.

Exempt from this requirement are weighing machines and music record players
Code Requirements
Guidance relating to Coin Operated Amusement Devices is contained in the Maplewood City Code, Chapter 8, Article III. All license holders are required to be familiar with the provisions of this chapter and with applicable Minnesota Statutes and federal regulations.

Application Requirements

License term runs September 1st through August 31st, annually. Renewal must occur on or before date of expiration.
