About the Project:

The Gervais Area Pavement Rehabilitation project is a pavement rehabilitation project proposed to be constructed in 2022.  This project includes removal and replacement of the failing pavement section, spot replacement of severely deteriorated sections of concrete curb and gutter, minor upgrades to the storm sewer and sanitary sewer systems on an as needed basis, replacement of the existing cast iron water main in select locations on the project streets, potential for the installation of a pedestrian walkway on 11th Avenue from White Bear Avenue to Ariel Street and upgrades to existing non-compliant ADA pedestrian walkways.

It should also be noted, Ariel Street is a border street of Maplewood and North St. Paul. Maplewood staff look forward to working jointly with North St. Paul to improve Ariel Street.

Project Status:

Maplewood City Council ordered staff to begin preparation of the feasibility study for the Gervais Area Pavement Rehabilitation on August 9, 2021 at the regularly scheduled city council meeting.

Currently, staff are in the process of developing the feasibility report, it is anticipated the report will be completed and available in January of 2022. In the coming months, properties adjacent to the improvement project should expect to receive more information about the project and invitations to neighborhood meetings which give residents the opportunity to provide input on the proposed project.

If you have any questions or comments in regards to the project, please feel free to reach out to Project Manager Jon Jarosch by phone at (651) 249-2405, or by email at We sincerely thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work together to make these improvements to your neighborhood.
