Montana-Nebraska Area Pavement Rehabilitation, City Project 20-08
About the Project:
The Montana-Nebraska Project is a pavement rehabilitation project constructed in 2021. This project included the replacement of the failed street pavement, the spot replacement of severely deteriorated concrete curb and gutter, and minor upgrades to the underground utilities (sanitary sewer, storm sewer, watermain).
The Feasibility Study for this project was approved by the Maplewood City Council in January of 2021. This report included information on the scope of the project, the estimated project costs, the methods for financing the improvements, and a preliminary project schedule. The City Council awarded a construction contract to T.A. Schifsky and Sons, Inc. at the May 10, 2021 meeting.
The majority of the project improvements have been completed. The final project improvements and area cleanup will occur by the end of September.
The assessment hearing for this project was held on September 13, 2021. The assessments were approved following the hearing. Assessment payments can be made to the City, interest-free, up to November 1, 2021. After this date, all remaining assessment balances will be certified to Ramsey County to be paid with property taxes over a 15-year period at a 3.3% fixed interest rate.
