Ferndale-Ivy Area Street Improvements

Ferndale-Ivy Area Street Improvements, City Project 18-01, is a full street reconstruction project with construction scheduled for June-October 2019. The project includes many improvements to the neighborhood including the full removal of the existing street, the installation of new pavement, a new aggregate base and sand sub-base to support the road, and new concrete curb and gutter. Utility improvements include upgrades to the watermain system, sanitary sewer system, and the installation of a new storm sewer system. Concrete sidewalks are also proposed along Ivy Avenue and Ferndale Street to provide an off-street location for pedestrians.

The contractor, T.A. Schifsky and Sons, has mobilized into the project area and begun preliminary construction activities. Utility work within the project area is scheduled to begin the week of June 24th. The Contractor plans to begin the utility work on Ferndale Street and Ivy Avenue, working from the western portions of the project to the east.

Due to the high groundwater levels within the project area, a de-watering system, consisting of shallow wells and pumps, will be installed the week of July 8th at select locations throughout the project area. This system will temporarily draw the groundwater level in the area down to allow for utility work to proceed.

If you have any questions or concerns in regards to this project, please feel free to contact the Engineering Department at (651) 249-2400. We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we make these improvements to your neighborhood.
