  1. WINTER WISDOM

    December 9, 2017, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Nature Center

    (AGES 6 + WITH AN ADULT, + 14 AND UP) New to Minnesota or wanting to enjoy winter outdoors? If dressed properly, you will stay warm and enjoy winter, even on the coldest day! Learn how to avoid frostbite, hypothermia and sunburn. Test insulating properties of different materials, learn how to calculate wind-chill and make a solar bead zipper pull for your jacket. We’ll try snowshoeing if we have snow! Free; registration required by Thursday, December 7.

Recreation Calendar

  1. Youth Basketball League

    December 9, 2017, All Day

    Grades 3-8. This recreational league is for girls and boys grades 3-8 (as of the 17/18 school year) and is designed to provide all participants with an opportunity to have fun, learn basic basketball skills, and learn how to play as a team. Boys and girls will play in separate leagues according to their grade level. Teams will play other teams from Little Canada, Oakdale, Mendota Heights, Cottage Grove, Stillwater, White Bear Lake, Mahtomedi, and more! The 3rd and 4th grade divisions will play their games with 9' baskets to provide a positive and rewarding experience for the participant. The 5th-8th grade divisions will use regulation 10' baskets. Games are played Saturday mornings and afternoons beginning in early December and concluding in early March. Teams will have one practice night per week during the season. Teams will begin practice in November. Registration deadline is October 20.

  2. Pre-Ballet and Tap

    Ages 3-5. This class includes the Wish Upon a Ballet curriculum with the added fun of tap! An introduction to the movements and vocabulary of these disciplines are taught with the help of musical instruments, parachutes, and scarves. Students will develop poise, strength, and flexibility. Ballet and tap shoes are required.

  4. Saturday Wish Upon a Ballet

    Ages 3-5. Wish Upon a Ballet is a dance program for children that incorporates popular children's stories, as well as ballet stories to create a dance class that is more than ballet steps. Using musical instruments, parachutes, and scarves, we will create a complete fairy tale experience while we skip, leap, jump, and spin. This way, an introduction to the movements and vocabulary of ballet are taught in a fun and creative manner. Children will learn an appreciation of dance and music while developing strength and flexibility. Come join the fun! Girls and boys will need ballet shoes. Girls should wear a leotard and tights. Boys should wear comfortable clothes they can move around in.
